Coming Soon... Now... To A Theater Near You
We’ve grown accustom to video conveniences throughout the years. Pay-Per-View, On Demand, the beloved TIVO, and king of mail order DVD rentals, Netflix.
We are the “I want it, and I want it now” generation. Napster gave us instant music gratification, and Apple successfully made that business model legal.
Now Apple and others are doing the same for video. Although my 11 yr. old son wouldn’t mind watching a movie on a small 2” screen or on his laptop, I prefer to watch movies on the big screen. Which brings the next dilemma. How do you download movies and watch them in your Theater or Media Room?

SpeakerCraft - Aimable
Speakers hidden away in walls or ceilings are a huge step toward a more attractive living space. However, sound travels in very predictable patterns. Directing sound to an exact position in a room requires that these patterns converge properly. The introduction of a speaker that actually pivots to the correct position while remaining flush in the wall or ceiling is one of our greatest technological achievements.
The award-winning AIM Cinema series delivers amazing sound quality while providing the flexibility to place the speakers wherever the layout or architecture of a room demands. This is important in stereo music applications and even more critical in

Veiled Vista
This main “window wall” is made up of angled glass of varied shapes and sizes, requiring unique shading solutions. Motorized shade control was implemented to provide UV protection for the many rare and antique wood furnishings and fabrics. The Sivoia QED roller 100 solar shades gradually open and close according to the time of sunrise/sunset from day to day. In the morning, as the sun rises, the shades are programmed to roll down to block the sun and gradually roll up throughout the day as the sun moves to the Western side of the house for sunset.

FAQ
Q. I am an architect and when I speak with clients about control systems the question, "How much does it cost?" always comes up. How do I answer this for my client?
A.
There is no easy way to answer this question as each project is totally different. You can tell your clients that an average system that includes control of HVAC, Lights, Security, Audio and Video can be around $100,000, but untimatly range from $50,000 to well into six figures. A tighter budget can be devoped through a discovery process with a systems integrator, the client and yourself. At this meeting the systems integrator should begin to ask the necessary questions to develop a scope of work and more acurate budgets.
Q.
What type of wire should I spec for my new construction project?
A.
The incorporation of A/V and lighting control in MDU projects is growing in popularity with builders and their buyers. To have a successful project, your integration firm must be involved as early as possible in system design and installation for a smooth project completion. EDG has experience working with builders in designing systems that fit within their scope of work, budget, and clients’ expectations. We can also work directly with the buyer if construction has been completed and they want to retro-fit a system. EDG will clarify any technical questions or concerns for you or your buyers.
