The Art of Flat TV - Motorized and Concealed
There's no question that "thin is in". In last month's issue of
Solutions we discussed the various options of mounting flat
panels mounted on and recessed inside of walls. This month we
will touch on the "magic" of concealing flat panels in furniture,
floors, ceiling's, and behind art work!
EDG has designed systems utilizing all these applications. Let's take a look…….
Furniture- This is a similar twist on an old concept, except due to the flat panels thin design the furniture does not have to be very deep and bulky. In the application below (Fig. 1) the flat panel is concealed in the base of the furniture. When the motor is engage the flat panel "pops-up" for viewing (Fig. 2). Now here's a

FAQ
Q. How does EDG's CEDIA membership help me as a consumer?
A.
You as a consumer benefit because CEDIA recognizes qualified, reputable and insured design and installation contractors such as EDG to counsel you and work in your home. Consumers also benefit by having CEDIA promote professionalism and honorable business practices in the field of custom installation.
Custom installers benefit in several ways. Consumers, builders, architects, interior designers, etc., recognize them as a professional resource. Through CEDIA education conferences and training programs, EDG can obtain continuing education in both technical and business skills to enhance the growth of our employees and our business. We have access to data, publications and other materials that can enhance our business practices and marketing services. We also have an open line of communication to manufacturers, industry officials and colleagues to address challenges and exchange information. Through CEDIA certification, installers now have a benchmark in our industry against which to measure ourselves. Being a CEDIA Professional Certified Installer lends even more prestige to membership.
Q. We're building a new house and I'm thinking we should wire the master bath for audio and video. My wife thinks I'm nuts. Please confirm my sanity.
A.
Next to the kitchen we almost always suggest the master bath be wired for audio and video. First thing in the morning you want it for information. Then in the evening you listen to music while you're getting jazzed up to go out at night. So, no you're not crazy.
EDG Trumps the Field
EDG Sponsors Hole-In-One Contest at Trump National Golf Club
Briarcliff Manor, NY, 2004 - Electronics Design Group sponsored a hole-in-one contest on the eighth tee at Trump National Golf Course in Briarcliff Manor, NY for the first annual Jerusalem Fellowships Endowment Fund Golf Outing. The Jerusalem Fellowships provide a gift of first time, peer group, educational trips to Israel for Jewish young adults ages 18 to 26.
Any golfer who could ace the 176 yard par 3 was guaranteed to win a 61" Runco Plasma TV courtesy of EDG. "What a tremendous setting for a great event. There were several shots that were on-line but fell just short. I was definately sweating, and it had nothing to do with the heat," stated Nick Lehotzky, Marketing Manager for EDG. "We are pleased to offer our support to this fantastic cause. The Jerusalem Fellowship provides a great program for Jewish college students and young professionals to connect with their Jewish heritage," added Nick.
Anyone interested in supporting Jerusalem Fellowships Endowment Fund are encouraged to contact Aaron Shapiro at: ashapiro@rockmaplefunds.com phone:(212) 813-2732.

Welcome back to Custom Corner. With each issue we will examine an interesting application of engineered electronics integration with consideration towards aesthetics and design, while limiting any sacrifice to equipment performance.
This month we visit a penthouse apartment with tremendous high-performance hidden technology. From the onset, the apartment was engineered with integration of HVAC, audio, video, motorized devices, shades and light control. Working closely with the architect, builder, interior designer, and tradesmen, Electronics Design Group created this technologically enabled residence with multi-room audio, multiple plasma displays, a projector lift with motorized screen, and impressive rack of equipment. Care was given to the cabinetry design for the equipment, as sufficient ventilation was required with the multitude of components. Note the grille at the base of the cabinetry, and the chase developed at the top of the unit to support convection current and keep things cool.
The family room serves as the focal point of relaxation and entertainment for the successful couple. With a single button press, the 100" sidescreen drops down over the mantle, the lights dim, the shades lower, and the program begins. And so you don't miss any of your favorite teams, there is also a 36 inch television located to the right of the fireplace.
An application such as this project is a standard for EDG, where we create custom environments that fulfill a client's wishlist. At the same time, we take into consideration the aesthetic value, interior design, and architectural components of a home. Working closely with all trades, Electronics Design Group designs integrated homes that save time, energy and money, while making a home easy to manage. The result is a residence where integrated technology is experienced at it's best.
Join us next month when we visit a high-performance 12 seat theater.
