Watching Movies at Home Will Never Be the Same!
You've heard me rave about all the benefits of CD music servers the
last few years. Now, many of my clients have been asking, "When
will we be able to view our DVD collections on a server?" Well, that
time is now. Enter one of the coolest products on the market from
Kaleidescape, Inc. The Kaleidescape System is comprised of a rack-mountable server, proprietary operating system software, and Kaleidescape's Movie Guide Service. A base Kaleidescape System has one Server with five disk cartridges for storing approximately 180 movies, one Movie Player, and one DVD Reader. Additional cartridges can be added to the Server, up to a total of 12, which is sufficient to store 500 movies. Additional Servers and Movie Players can be added to increase movie storage capacity and the number of viewing zones. Kaleidescape's proprietary operating system software enables the hardware components to communicate with each other within the home, via the home Ethernet, and with Kaleidescape's Movie Guide Service via the Internet. The Movie Guide Service provides detailed information about

FAQ
Q. I recently went to purchase a TV and was quite confused as to the difference between "HDTV compatible" and "HDTV ready". So what's the difference?
A.
"HDTV ready" indicates that you do not need a set top box for the HDTV signals, the tuner is inside. "HDTV compatible" indicates just the opposite, you need a set top box, or receiver, to get HDTV programming. Be careful. These terms are being used incorrectly in the industry so check with your retailer to see if a separate tuner is needed.

This month we will take a look at an application to custom cabinetry and in-wall speakers and how they can be hidden or camouflaged by faux painting.
In this project, the right side speaker placement was driven by its partner on the left side of the room. The left side supported a standard in-wall installation where a speaker back box, specifically engineered with the cubic volume required for best performance, was installed. The
