Why We Love and Hate Bill Gates...
Computers . . . sometimes we can't live with them and most of the
time we can't live without them. E-mail and the Internet are a way
of life, whether at work, at home, or for our kid's homework. I have
many clients, who like me, prefer e-mail for the fastest and easiest
way of communicating. No more back and forth voice mail messages for simple questions. I keep in touch with friends and family with e-mail, and sometimes quick conversations with instant messaging services.
Fortunately over the years, most of us have access to cable modems and DSL versus those slow days of dial up. However, many of us now have two or perhaps even three to four PC's, wireless notebooks, I-POD's and a host of printers and we want them all to work together! Plug and play……. Fuggetaboutit!
Of course, with all these conveniences we also have constant SPAM Mail, and viruses polluting our “in-box”. In the past, at EDG, we've faced e-mail disruptions. All it took was one employee to open a file with a virus and it would spread like a wild fire! With the use of sophisticated corporate virus scanning software we have been able to minimize these catastrophes, but we still have to be cautious and always use common sense when opening an attachment.
If you or your children use “file swapping” software programs like KAAZA, BE VERY CAREFUL ! Many of those files you download contain viruses and “spyware” programs.
